Instinct AI app: how to get it, sign in and set it up

Looking for the Instinct AI app? There is no phone app to download. As of 12 October 2026 we found no Instinct listing in the US App Store, and you reach the assistant by texting it. Signing up happens on the web at app.instinct.com with a phone number, access is invite-only, and there is a separate Mac download for people who are already in. This page covers how to get access, what first-run setup involves, what to connect, and what to do when a step fails.

Is there an Instinct AI app to download?

Not for your phone. A search of the US App Store through Apple's own search API returned no app from Spear Street Technology, the company that runs Instinct, for the terms instinct, instinct ai, instinct assistant or spear street. Apps that do use the name are unrelated. A Google Play search for the developer name turned up no listing either.

Instinct's own homepage explains why: there are no new interfaces, and you text or call it. The only button on the page, Text Instinct, opens the sign-in screen at app.instinct.com rather than an app store. If you want the background on what the assistant is, read What is Instinct AI? first.

  • Phone: no app. You text Instinct from your normal messaging app.
  • Web: app.instinct.com is where you sign in and manage settings, connections and data.
  • Mac: Instinct's terms cover a Mac OS application, and its web app has a Download for macOS page, behind sign-in, that lists macOS 13 or later.

How you get access: invites and the waitlist

The invite screens in Instinct's web app say Instinct is in invite-only beta. There are two ways in. An existing member can send you a private invite link; the app tells members they can ask Instinct for that link at any time, and shows a count of invites left. Without a link, you join the waitlist.

Either way you start by entering a phone number. The sign-up screens note US phone numbers only, so people outside the US should expect to be turned away at this step for now. Instinct's terms also say the service is operated in the United States and that you must be 18 or older.

  • If an invite link is expired, used up or mistyped, the app asks you to get a fresh link from your friend or join the waitlist.
  • If the person who invited you has used all their invites, you are offered the waitlist instead.
  • If Instinct is at capacity when you sign up, its SMS terms say you get one welcome text from your assigned Instinct number when your spot opens. The waitlist screen itself says you will be emailed when it is your turn.

Signing up and first-run setup

Sign-in works with a one-time code, not a password. You enter your phone number at app.instinct.com/signin, request a code, and type in the 6-digit code you receive. The app can send that code by SMS or on WhatsApp, and can fall back to SMS if WhatsApp delivery fails. Instinct's SMS terms say the consent notice above the Send code button also covers waitlist updates and occasional tips, and that marketing texts are not a condition of joining.

After that, you text your assigned Instinct number, the number its SMS terms say the welcome text comes from. Instinct's terms say you may only hold one account at a time and may also link an Apple, Facebook or Google account to it. The web app says you connect WhatsApp after setup, and that you can use the same Instinct there even if your WhatsApp number differs from your sign-in number. Instinct's homepage says you can also call it. Independent coverage, such as eesel's review, describes texting it on iMessage as well; Instinct's own pages do not name iMessage.

What to connect, and how to undo it

Its privacy policy says that linking Google Workspace gives it access to Google Calendar, Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Tasks. The same policy describes people giving it payment details, or the username and password for other accounts so it can sign in for them.

Start with one account and one errand, then widen access once you have seen how it handles that.   • Revoke Google access by asking Instinct in a conversation, or from settings in Instinct's Workspace.
  • Disconnecting does not delete data already collected. Delete indexed data at app.instinct.com/workspace.
  • Model training on your data is on unless you opt out at app.instinct.com/settings; the policy keeps an exception for content flagged for safety review.

Staying safe when you sign up

Because there is no official phone app, anything offering an Instinct download, an APK, or a paid shortcut past the waitlist is not from Instinct as far as its public pages show. Sign up only at app.instinct.com, reached from instinct.com. Do not share your sign-in code with anyone. If you think your account has been used by someone else, Instinct's terms ask you to email support@instinct.com right away.

Troubleshooting sign-in

  • Number rejected: the sign-up screens accept US numbers only, written in full.
  • No code by SMS: the app suggests checking filtered or blocked messages, then offers a resend after a short wait, or delivery on WhatsApp.
  • No code on WhatsApp: look for a separate Instinct chat in WhatsApp, or ask for SMS instead.
  • Stopped getting codes: replying STOP to Instinct's texts also stops sign-in codes by text. Reply START to resume, per its SMS terms.
  • Stuck on a waitlist screen after signing in: your spot has not opened yet. There is no published way to skip ahead.

Is there an Instinct AI app on the App Store or Google Play?

We found none on 12 October 2026. You sign up at app.instinct.com and then text Instinct. There is a Mac download for signed-in users.

Can I use Instinct outside the US?
