Pick up a dropped thread

Pick up a dropped thread. Return to a conversation that needs a follow-up.

What you can get

Stays in the chat Nothing leaves the conversation.

  1. It does

    • Nothing is sent — this task ends at a draft
  2. It stops and asks

    • Before it reads anything: confirm which threads are in scope and which mailboxes are off limits.
    • Before you send: check the recipient list, especially on threads with people copied in.
    • Before you act on the summary: confirm each unresolved item against the thread itself.
  3. You approve

    • Read access to the threads in scope
    • Approval before anything is sent — this task produces drafts only

Works when

  • The conversation exists somewhere you can hand over.
  • You want the unanswered points listed before deciding whether to reply at all.
  • You are going to read the draft before it goes anywhere.

Does not work when

  • The conversation happened somewhere it cannot read — a call, a meeting, a channel it has no access to.
  • The reply is sensitive enough that the wording needs to be yours from the first line.
  • You want it sent automatically. This task stops at a draft.

How to try it

Editorial, not from the source

  1. Identify the email or message threads to review.
  2. Ask for a list of unanswered questions and draft follow-ups.
  3. Check recipients and context before authorizing any message.

Limits and confirmation points

  • Only connected or supplied conversations can be reviewed.
  • An unanswered message does not always need a reply.

It summarises a thread you cannot find
Ask for the date, sender and subject line. A summary you cannot trace back to a message is not usable.
Something you already answered is reported as unresolved
Ask it to re-read the thread in date order. Replies buried further down a long thread are the usual miss.
The draft answers a question nobody asked
Give it the specific message to reply to instead of the topic. A topic search can land on the wrong thread.
